Digital Festival 2020

In December 2020, we were due to stage our inaugural festival of running, adventure sport and culture on Mount Elgon.

Unfortunately, due to the widespread impacts of Covid-19 our event had to be cancelled.

In its place, we held the Run Kapchorwa Digital Festival from 11th-14th December.

During the festival weekend, we screened a series of films that encouraged viewers to explore this beautiful region with us. We shared stories of running, adventure and the Sebei culture and asked our followers to run 5km with us on the #run4tourism.

If you missed out on the festival, you can still make a virtual visit to Mount Elgon by catching up on our YouTube channel.

#run4tourism

The #run4tourism was a 5km ‘virtual run’ held between the 11th and 14th December 2020.

A virtual run is a way of bringing people together in many different places to run for an event or cause. You complete the distance in any location, at your own pace and at the time of your choosing.

Participants from 11 countries and 4 continents came together to commemorate the UNWTO year of rural tourism & development, shine a light on the challenges experienced by tourism organisations during the time of Covid and demonstrate solidarity with others working in rural tourism.

In Kapchorwa, we held a ‘breakfast run’ for the #run4tourism on Saturday 12th December. Members of our community running club, friends and local tourism organisations came together to run 5km on Kapchorwa’s hilly trails before a welcome breakfast.
